What better way to see in ten years of working in the industry than inviting a highly respected and successful artist? Waterside Arts Centre is collaborating with textile artist Rachael Howard in their first branded touring exhibition; she has exhibited locally and worldwide and pioneered embroidery and screen printing techniques. She captures everyday moments and in this exhibition, Red Work, she visually tells of the joys and frustrations of everyday life in a  large-scale work inspired by the 19th Century Instagram: redwork story quilts. There’ll be a range of events including a big communal drawing session, making your own silk button collection and talks with exhibition curator Jenny Waterson and Rachael Howard herself. The exhibition will kick off with a free event (including refreshments) and your chance to speak to the esteemed textile artist.
