On Mon 2 Oct, The Bridgewater Hall launches its 2023-24 International Concert Series with a captivating journey through three centuries of music with Angela Hewitt, Daniel Bard and the Basel Chamber Orchestra.

Hailed as one of the pre-eminent Bach exponents of the modern age – and a renowned master of Mozart – pianist Angela Hewitt performs works by both for the occasion.

Audiences will be treated to magisterial renditions of Bach’s Piano Concerto in D Minor and Mozart’s Piano Concerto in E Flat Major accompanied by an eclectic set of works for strings: Heinz Holliger’s diaphanous rewrite of Bach’s Eisblumen, Ralph Vaughan Williams’ beloved Tallis Fantasia and Rudolf Barshai’s arrangement of Shostakovich’s soaring Eighth Quartet.
