As any cocktail fan knows, the Blue Pig’s menu includes some of the best cocktails around, featuring many of well known (and lesser known) spirits from around the world. You’ll find everything from aged rums and small batch gins to single village mezcals in their blends. So obviously, the Pig’s team of mixologists were mad about being part of the city’s most spectacular cocktail event, Cocktails in the City, which takes place this Thursday and Friday (14 & 15 May) at the Great Northern Warehouse.

For Manchester’s big cocktail shakedown, The Blue Pig are working with the world-class gin-mongers, Whitley Neill Gin, and the team have come up with a special, gin-based mix for the occasion, called Where Spirits Dwell. Nodding to the trend for both gin and Vermouth in cocktails, the recipe includes gin, vermouth, homemade grapefruit jam and a dash or two of orange elderflower water. Whitley Neill gin is an interesting addition in that it includes African botanicals and unusual aromatics, while being crafted in England.

Cocktails in the City sees 20 pop up bars in the Great Northern – where the Friday Food Fight usually takes place – serving up a collection of signature cocktails created especially for the show. There will be one-to-one cocktail tuition, plus DJs, music, street food and more.

Thu 14 &  Fri 15 May, Great Northern Warehouse,235 Deansgate, Manchester M3 4EN. 6pm-11pm, tickets £10 on the door – only 50 left tho! www.cocktailsinthecity.co.uk
