Next month, Spectacle Spectacle will present its first site-specific film screening: The Breakfast Club at Central Library. John Hughes’ 1985 comedy drama is set in a library, where five high-school students are being held in detention. The movie stars Emilio Estevez, Molly Ringwald, Judd Nelson, Ally Sheedy – and that other guy. The film is memorable for its smart dialogue, poignant character moments, and for spawning the hit single Don’t You (Forget About Me) by Simple Minds. The screening will take place in the library’s newly opened Performance Space, using a state-of-the-art projector. Whether you’re a long-time fan or experiencing the movie for the first time, this promises to be a fun and unique night out. Eighties dress is encouraged -but thankfully not compulsory.

Tue 16 Sep, Manchester Central Library, St Peters Square, M2 5PD, 5.30pm (doors) – 7.40pm, £5 (£6 on the door), www.spectaclespectacle.co.uk
