One of Manchester’s most iconic musical institutions, The Bridgewater Hall, is celebrating 30 years with a landmark anniversary concert this autumn.

Bringing together Manchester’s musical past, present and future, the one-night-only performance blends highlights from the Hall’s illustrious history with new arrangements of original music, including the debut performance of a newly-formed Greater Manchester Youth Orchestra.

The new project is led by the pioneering Untold Orchestra, a Manchester-based collective renowned for its innovative, genre-bending orchestral work, and is built on offering meaningful opportunities to a new generation of musicians.

Elsewhere, a diverse lineup from various corners of Manchester’s arts scene unites much-loved familiar faces with up-and-coming talent. There’ll be soulful, powerhouse vocals from Mancunian icon Rowetta, forward-thinking, modern jazz from pianist and producer Matt Wilde and a joyful theatrical performance from Banksie, best known by many for RuPaul’s Drag Race.

Also joining, Roberto serves a unique mix of grime and dancehall, rooted in Moss Side and Jamaican heritage, while string quartet Vulva Voce fuses historical and original music, amplifying sounds by women and underrepresented voices.

The evening’s festivities will be presented by Manchester DJ and broadcaster, Karen Gabay, who will guide audiences through the programme, introducing each segment and the stories behind the music.

The Bridgewater Hall’s 30th anniversary concert will be happening on Sun 20 Sep. Tickets are on sale now. Book yours below.
