Two concerts dedicated to the best of Bach offer an unmissable treat for lovers of early and baroque music. Arriving at The Bridgewater Hall from the heart of Bavaria, the Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra joins conductor Jonathan Darlington for a dazzling rendition of Grieg’s Piano Concerto, performed by Federico Colli (Mon 18 Nov). On Fri 17 Jan, conductor and pianist Wayne Marshall takes to the stage with the German National Orchestra for a memorable performance of Gershwin’s irresistible Rhapsody in Blue.

As the new year begins in earnest, The Prague Symphony Orchestra delivers a soaring take on Shostakovich’s Fifth Symphony for Valentine’s Day, while Robin Ticciati and the London Philharmonic bring Mahler’s own Fifth to life with a programme including the towering Adagietto on Mon 17 Mar.

Next April, the International Concert Series welcomes acclaimed musicians Katie and Marielle Labeque (Tue 8 Apr) for their first Bridgewater Hall concert in years, before a new collaboration between Manchester Collective and esteemed electronic maestro Clark (Fri 25 Apr).

The Buenos Aires Symphony Orchestra of Colon Opera provide a fitting end to the schedule with a spellbindingly eclectic programme of classics, from Astor Piazzolla to Tchaikovsky’s timeless Swan Lake suite (Mon 19 May).
