Continuing the trend for smaller gay and gay-friendly nights to crop up away from the Village, Pop Curious? is the latest Kraak party to win an enthusiastic following. Off-shoot nights have included Brit Pop Curious? and a Girls Aloud Special, but it’s the main event that keeps the faithful chart-junkies bopping into the early hours. Amid a sea of pop-star face masks and plastic accessories you’ll find the music itself is no gimmick – they are serious about Pop, drawing the line at stuff like Steps 5, 6, 7, 8 and Billie Piper’s Because We Want To. Instead expect Pet Shop Boys alongside Sugabaes via St Etienne and Kylie. They’re shameless with their favours too, so get your requests in before the Bank Holiday hits.
