On Thu 21 and Fri 22 Sep, The Cost of Everything launches a singularly immersive interrogation of Britain’s cost of living crisis with an interactive performance/game show at The Lowry, featuring both live and online players working together to build a new, equitable model of Salford.

Whether you join in person or via livestream, each audience member adopts a vital role in the creation of a new, economically sustainable city playing as different workers, each with the power to change the trajectory of your new micro-society and shape the show through video game-style participatory theatre.

Those joining via livestream will act as remote workers, with collaborative responsibilities focused on growing the city and navigating crises, from food supply chains and housing to energy sources and distribution, while the in-person audience are the key workers, operating directly within the city to enact the intricate remote modelling, building new houses, growing food and constructing power stations.

In every decision is a different vision of society – however you play, your priorities for a better world can completely alter the direction of the city, for better or worse, in the search for a way out of the cost of living crisis.
