The team behind the immensely popular Ancoats-meets-Northern Quarter pub, The Crown and Kettle, have announced some incredibly exciting opening plans.

Later this month, they’ll be launching the Rat & Pigeon, a three-floor, two-bar boozer in the former Mother Macs site.

Taking to Instagram to confirm the rumours, the team said: “We’ve waited nine long, gruelling months filled with blood, sweat and tears (and a lot of dust) to be able to share this with you. It’s been a proper tough slog – the building was absolutely knackered and in dire need of some serious TLC.

“But alas – as we approach the final stages of breathing new life into this historic boozer now feels like the right time to finally wet the proverbial whistle in anticipation of its grand re-emergence as a beloved behemoth of the Manchester pub scene.”

There is still work to be done on the renovation, though late May has been earmarked as the official opening. You can keep an eye on all the progress over on Instagram.
