The team behind the beloved Ancoats-meets-Northern Quarter pub, The Crown and Kettle, have announced some incredibly exciting opening plans.

This June, they’ll be launching the Rat & Pigeon, a three-floor, two-bar boozer in the former Mother Macs site.

Taking to Instagram to confirm the rumours, the team said: “We’ve waited nine long, gruelling months filled with blood, sweat and tears (and a lot of dust) to be able to share this with you. It’s been a proper tough slog – the building was absolutely knackered and in dire need of some serious TLC.”

“But alas – as we approach the final stages of breathing new life into this historic boozer now feels like the right time to finally wet the proverbial whistle in anticipation of its grand re-emergence as a beloved behemoth of the Manchester pub scene.”

The Rat and Pigeon is set to open its doors on Fri 7 Jun, with a special launch party in collaboration with local brewing favourites, Shindigger. Entry is free and there’ll be a stellar lineup of local DJs.
