This April Manchester Camerata perform a unique, live interpretation of William Basinski’s The Disintegration Loops 1:1 & 1.3 – a poignant piece of work which emerged from the literal disintegration of musical recordings on tape as they were being digitised by avant-garde, New York based composer. A twist of fate saw Basinski finish his project on 9/11, and the music has subsequently become an elegy for the attacks on the World Trade Centre. Since The Disintegration Loops was released in 2001, parts have been scored for a live setting and this month, Manchester Camerata add to Basinski’s remarkable story, bringing their own artistry to the live experience of this hugely atmospheric and much loved work. The music, which features crackling decaying repetitions and will appeal to fans of soundtrack music, drone, classical, contemporary and ambient works, will be performed by Robert Ames and Manchester Camerata Principal Musicians and conducted by Maxim Moston.
