This September, The Edge Theatre marks this year’s Chorlton Pride with a joyous day-long programme of family-friendly events, inclusive performances and free activities, uniting visitors of all ages in a celebration of love, creativity and the LGBTQIA+ community across South Manchester and beyond.

Kicking off at 1pm, The Edge’s Pride day opens with The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence. Free to attend, the witty and open-hearted duo will swap stories and share proud histories with their trademark wit and open-hearted warmth.

Across the afternoon, families can enjoy Happily Ever After, a 35-minute film adaptation of Linda De Haan and Stern Nijland’s King and King. With free drop-in screenings at 2pm, 3pm and 4pm, this enchanting reimagining of the traditional fairy tale offers a positive exploration of kindness, inclusion and same-gender relationships.
As evening falls, The Edge bursts into life with a cavalcade of bombastic music and cabaret. At 6pm, audiences aged 16 and over can join Tom Guest at the piano for an exuberant hour of queer anthems, chart-toppers and unapologetically cheesy hits with The Basic Bitch Singalong (£10).

At 8pm, Queen Bayard returns to Chorlton with a special Pride edition of her celebrated cabaret, an uplifting and unabashedly glamorous celebration of queerness (£10).

Throughout the day, visitors can pop into the gallery to explore the vibrant multimedia exhibition, Kevin Freeman: Costume. This fabulous installation showcases the artist’s cross-disciplinary designs for drag, celebrity, theatre and television, including two new Drag Queen illustrations premiered at Norwich Queerfest 25.
With cocktails served in The Dressing Room Bar from the afternoon onwards, Chorlton Pride at The Edge issues an open invitation for everyone to celebrate inclusivity and community in style.
