The first-ever Withington Book Festival is set to take place this October.

Running from Tue 2 Oct – Sat 5 Oct, a series of free events dedicated to celebrating reading the community will take over the south Manchester suburb.

Kicking things off on Tuesday, there will be a special spoken word event hosted at the much-loved Fuel Cafe Bar on Wilmslow Road. On Wednesday, all are invited to test their knowledge with a book-themed quiz at Cafe Blah.

On Friday, there will be an official launch party and a chance to meet the festival’s organisers at Something More Productive. The bar will even be serving book-themed cocktails.

Saturday is packed full of activities, too. A full programme of incredible authors will be hosting talks at Withington Public Hall, creative writing workshops will take place at Withington Baths, and performances from Choirs Manchester will round out the festival, also at Withington Hall.
