The Great Northern has launched its Summer Sunday series, a weekly programme of weekend specials featuring an endless variety of discounts, deals, workshops, events, free ‘repair cafes’ and more to guarantee the perfect day for laid-back joy-seekers and productive life admin specialists alike.

Taking place from 11am in Great Northern Square’s iconic amphitheatre, Life Centre North and Jenny Wildes host the first in a weekly series of sun-kissed free outdoor yoga sessions during which visitors will learn the basics of yoga, movement and breathwork with various pranayama, wim hof and connected conscious styles.

From 12pm to 2pm, men’s mental health charity Mandem Meetup host a free bike repair session in the Village Hall. For two hours, cyclists can bring their damaged set of wheels down to Deansgate Mews to get their chain reattached, handlebars repositioned and gears fixed to be road-ready at no extra cost.

Running at the same time, Mandem Meetup’s Jamie runs a free calisthenics exercise class in which guests can explore their physical capabilities and optimise their bodyweight for a solid anatomical foundation to get fit with no frills.

Throughout the summer, several Great Northern bars, restaurants and stores offer unmissable deals on irresistible food, frozen cocktails and elegant furniture. From 1pm-5pm every Sunday, James Martin Manchester serves an opulent yet affordable Sunday Roast, featuring beer battered cod, wild mushroom on toast, slow roast beef, cornfed chicken and more, with 2 courses for £25 or 3 for just £35.

Whether you’re celebrating a high-rolling win, drowning your sorrows or simply fancy a finely crafted drink at an unbeatable price, 235 Casino offers 2-4-1 cocktails from noon until 6am Monday morning, while Pong & Puck and Malibu Beach Bar serve enormous £10 pizzas from 12-3pm and 2-4-1 cocktails – as well as £4 pints and £20 prosecco bottles – during their 5-7pm Happy Hour.

Pan-Asian street food masters Suki Suki run a brand new summer menu throughout the day, and Almost Famous relaunch their Big Ten offer – a choice of teetering, fully-loaded burgers with a basket of fries for just £10. Over at Lions Den, a selection of talented emerging musicians take to the outdoor stage for a free, live acoustic session every Sunday afternoon.

For a gratifying day of to-do list box-ticking, drop into Futon to check out their extensive summer sale, with a range stylish furniture and plush mattresses on sale at up to 60% off, before stopping by Noir Cuts & Coffee barbershop for high-end grooming and high-caffeine refreshment. If you’ve got a faulty gadget or need a new one entirely, check out A-Z Electronics for the latest tech products and digital repairs.

If the Amphitheatre Yoga ignited your love for wellness, sign up to a Life Centre North Sunday class for just £1 via their website. Beginning at 9.30am, the schedule features everything from hot flow to yin yoga, covering dozens of poses and promising to leave participants feeling relaxed, rejuvenated and spiritually nourished.
