FAC51 The Hacienda celebrates its 40th anniversary this month, and is marking the occasion with a special charity party where the famed story all began.

Taking over the basement car park of the Hacienda Apartments on Whitworth Street on Sat 21 May, a host of Hacienda residents reunites for the unique event.

Graeme Park, DJ Paulette, Jon DaSilva, Tom Wainwright, Hewan Clarke, Aaron Mellor, K-Klass Live and a collection of surprise special guests will on be on-hand to spin tracks, while also raising awareness for two charities.

All proceeds and audience donations will head to The Christie and Legacy of War Foudnation-Ukraine, the charity supported by Factory Records founder Alan Erasmus on his recent aid mission to the country.

Talking about his mission, and the FAC51 anniversary, Erasmus said: “Tony (Wilson) would have been encouraging about me going to Ukraine. He would have thought I was mad for going though and would certainly have tried to stop me, but he would have known I would have gone regardless.

“Tony would have also wanted to help the people of Ukraine, in some way, he was just like that.

“Live streaming connects people from all over the world together, into a shared experience or in this case, a live event.

“The live streaming of The Hacienda 40th anniversary event on May 21st by StreamGM will draw people into the carpark, the history of The Hacienda, Manchester’s culture and most importantly to the cause of the event which is to raise funds and awareness for The Legacy of War Foundation and The Christie, both of which are brilliant charitable organisations.

“It is important that the more people who get to see it, the better.”

The eight-hour event will be broadcast live on StreamGM, and for anyone wanting to head along in person, presale tickets go on sale at 10am Thu 12 May, with general sale 10am Fri 13 May.

The event also forms part of The Hacienda’s 40 th Anniversary celebrations across the year which include Hacienda Classical events at London’s Royal Albert Hall (Fri 13 May), OVO Hydro Glasgow (Sat 18 Jun) & Castlefield Bowl (Fri 8 Jul) as well as headline appearances at Retro Festival & Kendal Calling.
