The Hallé promises to raise the roof at The Bridgewater with this one-off special 80s Mixtape concert, featuring some of your favourite numbers from the era of padded shoulders. The full Hallé line-up will be joined by current Mike + The Mechanics frontman Tim Howar and Aussie vocalist Alison Jiear (of Britain’s Got Talent fame), along with a guest rhythm section and Hallé Pops Associate Conductor Stephen Bell. The classics and chart-toppers you can expect include Michael Jackson’s Thriller (with or without Moonwalking moves, we’re not sure), Never Gonna Give You Up by Newton-Le-Willows legend Rick Astley, and Bonnie Tyler’s belting Total Eclipse Of The Heart. A tribute to the 1980s wouldn’t be complete without a power ballad duet or two, so of course Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes’ iconic Dirty Dancing theme tune The Time Of My Life will feature. Nobody puts The Hallé in the corner…
