The highly-anticipated theatre adaptation of Sophie Anderson’s classic tale The House With Chicken Legs comes to HOME this spring.
As if we weren’t excited enough about the whole thing already, the production’s incredible cast and crew have now been revealed ahead of the premiere show on Wed 30 Mar.
A wildly captivating mixture of Slavic folklore and the striking style of acclaimed theatre company Les Enfants Terribles, the Manchester run will feature Ross Bruford graduate and Doctor Who actor Eve De Leon Allen as protagonist Marinka.
A pre-teen girl yearning for a normal life of friendships and adventure, Marinka’s fantasies are constantly undermined by her grandmother, played by East 15 alumnus and Coronation Street actor Lisa Howard and BRIT School graduate Perola Congo, who doubles as Baba Yaga, the mythical psychopomp who shepherds souls from the living world on to the realm beyond death.
The demands of Baba’s remote employment means that their house regularly moves between places, indeed, on the legs of a chicken.
With supporting roles delivered brilliantly by Keshini Misha, David Fallon and Matthew Burns, Les Enfants Terribles founder Oliver Lansley directing and Samuel Wyer fronting the costume and puppetry design, The House With Chicken Legs is set to enjoy an unforgettable spell at Manchester’s temple of international contemporary culture.
The House With Chicken Legs will be at HOME until Sat 23 Apr. Tickets are on sale now, you can grab yours using the button below.
