On Mon 17 Mar, esteemed conductor Robin Ticciati OBE leads the resurgent London Philharmonic Orchestra through a soaring programme of iconic compositions featuring the legendary works of Schumann and Mahler at The Bridgewater Hall.

Beginning with one of the most celebrated and beloved piano concertos of all time, Schumann’s Piano Concerto in A Minor introduces audiences to the composer’s conflicting yet majestically harmonious alter-egos, the flamboyant extrovert Florestan and the contemplative, observant Eusebius, in a sparkling journey from bombastic jubilance to wistful melancholy led by former BBC New Generation Artist, Francesco Piemontesi.

From one titan of the classical canon to another, Mahler’s peerlessly dramatic Fifth Symphony charts a churning descent into a maelstrom of roaring chaos, as the funeral march gives way to the tender Adagietto, before concluding in a contrapuntal tour de force with a fugue, rondo and chorale rounding off proceedings in a triumphant explosion.
