The Lowry has introduced a new Relaxed Hour that will be available every Sunday in the venue’s galleries.
From 10am-11am every Sunday, visitors will be able to enjoy all permanent and temporary exhibition spaces as well as a quiet space to relax with sensory seating, toys and books, and the Carole Nash Lookout, a space to play and create.
Additionally, ambient music and announcements will be reduced throughout the building, ear defenders will be available from the Galleries Welcome Desk, and capacity in the Galleries will be limited.
Michael Simpson, Director of Visual Arts at The Lowry said: “We are happy to be introducing our Relaxed Hours in the Galleries at The Lowry, creating a space where everyone can access art, as we continue responding to the needs of all our visitors. We look forward to welcoming and developing this experience with our visitors.”
On the first Sunday of the month, there will also be Relaxed Crafty Families — an activity workshop hosted by a professional facilitator. Artist Michelle Leigh will lead the sessions that have been developed with families who would prefer a quieter, more relaxed session in mind, specifically those with additional needs, including those who are autistic, are neurodivergent, or have anxiety.
The Lowry Galleries are free to visit. For the Relaxed Hour pre-booking is recommended but limited walk-in tickets will be available from the Galleries Welcome Desk, subject to availability. You can book a spot using the button below.
