Billed as ‘a deeply human and engaging exploration’ of the fascinating life and illustrious literary career of former spy David Cornwell – better known as John le Carré, the pioneering author of classic espionage thrillers including The Spy Who Came in from the Cold, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and The Constant Gardener – Apple Films’ new documentary The Pigeon Tunnel blends raw footage, reconstructed dramatic scenes and one breathtaking interview to chronicle the journey of a uniquely captivating British icon, with regular screenings at HOME from Fri 20 Oct.

The latest film from Academy Award-winning documentarian Errol Morris (The Thin Blue Line, The Fog of War), The Pigeon Tunnel features le Carré’s final, astonishingly candid interview in full, conducted before his death in 2020. Interspersed with rare archival footage and immaculately dramatised vignettes, the sprawling discussion forms a backdrop to six decades of the author’s life, beginning amidst the tempest of the Cold War and leading up to the present day, in a profound account of both le Carré’s rich tapestry of singular adventures and ‘the paper-thin membrane between fact and fiction’.

Hailed as ‘riveting’ by The Times and ‘as gripping as any thriller’ by The Guardian, The Pigeon Tunnel is available to watch at HOME from Fri 20 Oct, with tickets available now. Click here for more info.
