Running throughout the summer, The Portico hosts a series of family-friendly polaroid and poetry workshops.
Kicking off on Thu 24 Jul, and taking place every Thursday throughout the school holidays, these free-to-attend drop-in sessions will invite curious kids to capture different features of the historic building and record them via polaroid images.
You’ll also get the chance to make a postcard and record your thoughts through blackout poetry to take home or send as a memento.
Drawing on both of The Portico’s current exhibitions: The Songs the Morning Sang and Holiday Sketches, these workshops aim to get visitors thinking about the space they are in, recording it and thinking about the exciting places they could travel to.
Guests will use a mixture of literary and Victorian collage alongside photographs to create postcards and luggage tags, and you can leave a photo of yourself (if you want to) at the library, which will be added to a growing collection of people who have passed through the door.
