As part of The Portico’s Ubuntu Black History series, the venue will be hosting two screenings of iconic African American horror films in its historic Reading Room this October.

First up is a special Friday 13th screening of Night of the Living Dead. Often labelled the first modern zombie film, it follows seven people who become trapped in a farmhouse in rural Pennsylvania, which is under attack by a group of undead ghouls.

Then, on Halloween night, is Ganja & Hess, a vampiric tale of a doctor’s assistant who is stabbed by an ancient knife, leaving him with an insatiable appetite for blood.

Tickets for both screenings are priced at £5, or by donation.
