Taking place on Sun 2 Jul, the Explore@RNCM promises a family-friendly day packed with live performances, festival food and immersive journeys through Manchester’s musical history as part of the RNCM’s 50th Birthday programme.

Commencing at 12pm, Explore@RNCM invites guests of all ages and tastes from the local community for a free afternoon party, with live music, outdoor performers, face-painting, festival food and even a giant cake.

At 6pm, the RNCM Orchestra join school Soloists and the RNCM Community Chorus for a one-off semi-staged rendition of Stephen Sondheim’s wondrous award-winning musical adventure, Into The Woods. Directed by Sarah Tipple, the enchanting production follows the fraught lives of fairytale creatures in a dark, magical forest.

From 8pm, the RNCM rounds off the eclectic festivities with Late Night Sessions, wherein Manchester’s best DJs unite to transport the audience on a voyage through five decades of music history – with a healthy dose of Madchester tracks guaranteed – in the RNCM Cafe Bar.
