Returning to Salford with a fresh, invigorating interpretation of the timeless tragedy, the Royal Shakespeare Company presents a brand new production of Julius Caesar at The Lowry from Tue 20 – Sat 24 Jun.
Directed by The Stage Debut Award-winner Atri Banerjee and featuring a diverse, dynamic cast of highly esteemed actors, this innovative yet faithful adaptation follows Cassius, Brutus and a group of fellow revolutionaries who hatch a secret plan to assassinate Caesar before he spirals into tyranny. As chaos, horror and superstition marble through the streets of Rome and civil war erupts, a new leader must rise in order to preserve democracy.
Widely known as the world’s first political thriller, the RSC’s Julius Caesar offers a kinetic, electrifying account of the frantic and embattled days surrounding the Ides of March, and invites us to consider how far we’d go for our principles.
