This summer, the Science and Industry Museum invites visitors to discover the Herculean efforts and detailed research behind the search for a vaccine amidst the life-changing COVID-19 pandemic with a free exhibition.

Featuring a fascinating collection of objects and stories, Injecting Hope: The Race for a COVID-19 Vaccine charts Manchester’s unique experience of the pandemic alongside the groundbreaking healthcare developments achieved through a collaboration between brilliant scientists and researchers.

Open from Fri 19 Jul, the Science and Industry Museum’s new exhibition displays a colossal variety of captivating objects, including a vial of the first vaccine to be administered worldwide, Andy Burnham’s iconic worker jacket from his defiant media address, a specially commissioned video created by local youth group HideOut Youth Zone exploring the chronicles of young people in the pandemic, and even a bed from the NHS Nightingale Hospital North West.

Injecting Hope: The Race for a COVID-19 Vaccine is free to enter until Sun 17 Nov – don’t miss your chance to see the incredible work done behind the scenes by volunteers, researchers and others who formed the vanguard of triumph over the global challenge of a generation.
