On Fri 2 May, the Scottish Ensemble unites with acclaimed experimental choreographer Örjan Andersson for an evening of spellbinding classical innovation at the RNCM.
Billed as ‘the human condition painted in high-intensity colours’, the unique and exhilarating performance features a captivatingly dynamic interpretation of Shostakovitch’s String Symphony and Tchaikovsky’s Serenade for Strings, developed in partnership with Örjan Andersson, one of Sweden’s most renowned choreographers.
Set free from stands and scores, the Scottish Ensemble’s one-off concert brings both performers and the audience into the pulsating heart of the music, where the group uncover new dimensions in which they create mesmerising visual renderings of the passion, complexity and irresistible spirit of each arrangement, venturing across the full emotional spectrum from the depths of despair to soaring euphoria.
You can hear more from Artistic Director Jonathan Morton about pushing the boundaries of classical music here.
