An iconic tale of deception, desire and deadly ambition descends on Lowry this November, as The Talented Mr Ripley comes to the Salford stage.
The electrifying new stage adaptation brings Patricia Highsmith’s much-loved psychological thriller, which inspired the acclaimed movie and Netflix series, to life like never before.
Tom Ripley lives his life scraping by in New York, forging signatures and telling little white lies, before a chance encounter suddenly changes everything. When a wealthy stranger offers him an all-expenses-paid trip to Italy to bring home his wayward son, Dickie Greenleaf, Tom leaps at the opportunity.
However, in the sun-drenched glamour of 1950s Italy, Tom is seduced by the life Dickie leads, and what began as an innocent opportunity spirals into a chilling game of lies, identity theft, and murder.
A combination of razor-sharp dialogue, tension, and Ed McVey’s (The Crown) charismatic portrayal of the antihero Tom Ripley, the gripping production promises to pull audiences into an intoxicating world where everything isn’t as it seems.
Joining Ed McVey in a ten-strong cast will be Bruce Herbelin-Earle from Netfix’s Free Rein as Dickie Greenleaf, and EastEnders regular and Strictly Come Dancing finalist Maisie Smith starring as Marge Sherwood.
