With its diverse range of musicians, promoters and venues, the Manchester music scene is one that is brimming with talent, creativity and ingenuity – but once in a while these talented legs need stretching. And what better way to exercise such brilliance than with a 5-a-side charity football tournament? The inaugural Trof Trophy will include players from Dutch Uncles, Band on the Wall, Common, the Travelling Band and Ear to the Ground, among many others, who will be locking horns at Powerleague near the Apollo on Sunday 1 September to raise money for local charity Lifeline. The triumphant team will win a full kit with personalised team crest designed and donated by Umbro. Once the final whistle has been blown and sore knees have been bandaged up, the Deaf Institute will host the after-party, which sees the players take to the decks, Dutch Uncles become quiz masters and for you to win amazing money-can’t-buy prizes – with more treats available to bid for over on eBay from next week. Entry’s free and there are also rumours circulating about some free booze – but you didn’t hear that from us. Visit the Trof Trophy JustGiving page to pledge your donation.
