The Village Screen is a group that hosts cinema screenings at iconic locations throughout the North. And they’ve got a pair of doozies lined up for later this week, with two retro classics coming to Victoria Baths. On Friday, it’s the eighties comedy Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. Directed by John Hughes, it stars a young Matthew Broderick as a high school student who does a bunk with his best friend and girlfriend. Their hilarious hijinks are all set to a soundtrack of eighties hits. On Saturday, it’s the coming of age comedy Clueless, starring Alicia Silverstone as the spoiled, shallow Cher Horowitz. This sly re-telling of Jane Austin’s ‘Emma’ is packed with endlessly quotable one-liners and outrageous nineties fashions. Street food traders will be in attendance, and a bar will be serving themed cocktails, beers from the Thornbridge Brewery, Prosecco, and soft drinks.
