In a land of fine ales, it’s easy argued that one of the few things Manchester is missing (besides a beach) is a dedicated whisky store. The Whisky Shop aims to redress the balance by opening a store on Exchange Street today. The UK’s largest whisky-only retailer already has 21 stores nationwide, including its first store in London’s Piccadilly – but with this new Manchester opening covering 600 sq ft, it looks set to become The Whisky Shop’s second flagship store. Situated at 3 Exchange Street, under the Royal Exchange, the outlet will stock ranges from American Whiskey producer Brown-Forman (Jack Daniels, Gentleman Jack, Woodford Reserve) and the UK’s own Diageo Reserve (Johnnie Walker), plus a ‘Library’ of rare and exclusive bottles. Despite catering for whisky connoisseurs, The Whisky Shop is also designed to be accessible and educational to whisky novices, ‘leading them on a journey of discovery’. We’re certainly looking forward to setting sail.
