Calling theatre fans. Smash hit theatre show, Barber Shop Chronicles, kicks off the first major UK tour in March at the Royal Exchange in association with Contact. Written by Inua Ellams, this hilarious, insightful work explores the barber shop’s place in global culture. A place to meet and talk (and get a hair cut) they’re much more besides, by turns functioning as newsroom, political platform, preacher’s pulpit, and confession box. The story leaps from Peckham to Johannesburg, Harare, Lagos, and Accra, over the course of a single day. The full cast was recently announced, and it includes returning stars Maynard Eziashi, Mohammed Mansaray, and Anthony Ofoegbu, along with some new faces. Presented in association with Contact, the play is a co-production with Fuel, the National Theatre, and Leeds Playhouse. If you’re under 26, you can also book £7 tickets on hundreds of RX shows – including this one – click here for more information on how you can save up to 80% on a full price ticket.
