The Mysteries – a cycle of six new plays – heads to the Royal Exchange this autumn. Each of the plays will be premiered in the place it was written – including Eskdale, Staindrop, Whitby, Boston, Stoke-on-Trent and Manchester – during September and October. The set will then be brought to the Royal Exchange for individual performances of each in its Studio space, before culminating in two performances of all six of the plays in the main Theatre on Sunday 4 November and Sunday 11 November. The cycle – which explores the landscapes that surround us and how we live with each other – has been developed by the Exchange’s associate artist Chris Thorpe and Sam Pritchard, associate director (international) at the Royal Court. The pair previously worked together on There Has Possibly Been An Incident, which was staged at the Exchange in 2013.
