Drawing on the very French art of farce and ‘bouffon’, or jest, Toulouse-founded, London-based Témoin Theatre’s new show Feed shines a satirical light on the current media landscape and its new relationship with politics. In the era of fake news, what are we to believe when reality and fantasy blend into one? A journalist publishes an image, without the Palestinian photographer’s permission, alongside an unrelated article, which moves a blogger to post a tribute that then goes viral thanks to the input of an SEO specialist. Now all four find themselves caught in a media storm, pulled every which way to deliver ‘what people want’. Drawing on Témoin’s trademark vibrant visual style, and mentored by dramaturg Chris Thorpe, this co-production between The Lowry and The Everyman Cheltenham lands in the Quays en route to a stint at the Pleasance as part of the Edinburgh Fringe in August. Catch it pre-meme!
