Every two hours, a man in the UK kills himself, making suicide the biggest killer of males under 45. To raise awareness of this issue, the local art collective We Are Willow is teaming up with the charity Manchester Mind for a special event at HOME. This multimedia show takes place in early October, coinciding with World Mental Health Day. Titled ‘A Different Light’, the night features film commissions, spoken word performances, and the launch of an exclusive 12 track album. The starting point for the show was four songs by We Are Willow. Emerging and established artists were invited to respond to the music, resulting in spoken works that encourage the audience to think about how to challenge misconceptions around mental health. Tickets includes exclusive gift box, a limited-edition handmade sculpture, and an album download code. 40 percent of the proceeds will go to Manchester Mind – to help them in their ongoing support of 5000 young people and adults.
