New theatre company, Wise Children, have teamed up with The Old Vic to bring their adaptation of the Angela Carter novel that has leant them their name to HOME at the end of February. Wise Children (the novel) has been adapted by Wise Children’s (the theatre company) founder Emma Rice who also be directing as the premiere the play in Manchester. Carter’s story is one celebrating show business, family, forgiveness in a mass ball of theatrical salaciousness and sadness. On Shakespeare’s birthday, twins celebrate their 75th whilst their father celebrates his century across London as does his twin brother, wherever he is. With sex, scandal, music, mischief and show girls promised this shapes up to be a wise move for Emma Rice’s company’s debut production.
