Award-winning music festival Dot to Dot returns to Manchester for a third year this Friday. Taking place across 10 Manchester venues, including The Ritz, Sound Control, the Deaf Institute and Gorilla, the one-day event aims to showcase both established acts and new talent. The festival began nine years ago in Nottingham, and has since been expanded to Bristol – and, as of 2010, Manchester too. Last year, it was crowned ‘Best Metropolitan Event’ at the UK Festival Awards. Headline names in 2014 are Peace (pictured), Drenge and Real Estate. However, the comedy band The Midnight Beast are potentially a big draw too, having gained fame for their eponymous E4 sitcom and YouTube song parodies. Also appearing are The Pizza Underground, who perform Velvet Underground songs but with lyrics about pizzas – and featuring Macaulay Culkin as a band member. Courtney Barnett, Ezra Furman and Rhodes are other names to look out for, meanwhile. Head to Gorilla from 1pm to exchange your ticket for a wristband allowing access to all 10 venues, and download the festival schedule here.
