Off The Hook is the long-running, occasionally award-winning but always coolly understated gay/friendly RnB party, created back in the day by Anthony Crank, Rob Devlin and Amber Swallows in a basement Village venue named Kitsch. A revival and re-brand from Drunk At Vogue’s Greg Thorpe saw some of the night’s glory years take place in the Northern Quarter. Now its second home Kraak is about to close down so the search is on for a new home. In the meantime. it seemed a fitting gesture to hold its fifth birthday party back in the Village. BackDoor is the venue, just yards from its original home, and to celebrate the occasion, entry is free before midnight – so be sure to get down early and get your basement moves on to the likes of Beyoncé, De La Soul, Missy Elliot, Azaelia Banks, Janet Jackson, Run DMC, Whitney Houston, Neneh Cherry, Missy Elliot, Jay Z, Rhianna, Lil Kim, Eve, Mya, Michael Jackson, Janelle Monae, TLC and loads of your favourite RnB and soulful pop gems from the 80s, 90s, Noughties, now. As for the future, watch this space…
