The Northern Quarter is never shy of independent traders – and there’s even more to enjoy this weekend, when over 100 of the region’s finest bakers, chefs and artists share their wares at the Makers Market in Stevenson Square. Soundtracked by the NQ’s own Pasta Paul, the monthly Makers Market offers the chance to browse, booze and tuck into the best in artisan fare. Choose from freshly baked breads and patisseries from Martins Bakery, Katsu curry from Wallace and Sons’, authentic South African jerky from Weston Biltong and much more. It’s not all food, of course as art plays a huge part in this monthly event. Take in work by iconic Manchester photographer Ben Sedman, beautiful handcrafted pottery from Will Broughton, handmade pieces by String Effects and much, much more. The market is always a great day out – particularly in summer – and there’s the added bonus of knowing that you’ve used your hard-earned cash to support the city’s finest independents.
