This weekend, the annual Manchester Mega Mela is taking over Platt Fields Park. This is the region’s biggest celebration of South Asian Culture, attracting over 70,000 visitors every year. It’s one of the most notable Melas outside of the Indian subcontinent and people from all cultures and walks of life are welcome to bring their families to this free event. There will be a main stage presenting some of the biggest names in the British Asian music scene. Also, a marquee stage will feature a community-led programme traditional dancing and folk plays. A huge selection of stalls will be selling authentic foods, contemporary clothing, and crafts. There will also be a fun fair, fashion show, and henna painting. Sports fans should be sure to visit on Sunday for the Kabaddi tournament.
