Love gardening? Or perhaps you’re a garden voyeur. Either way, this weekend’s Old Trafford Open Gardens festival is a treat. A map to the 19+ gardens on the route costs £4, from outlets including the St John’s Centre and Bottle Tops off licence, both located by St John’s Church on Ayres Road. All you have to do is pop in, pick up a guide and enjoy an interesting Sunday stroll, meeting new people and plants in the increasingly popular Old Trafford area. Located just between Hulme and Chorlton, as well as bordering on Whalley Range, the best way to reach Old Trafford is to walk and aim for the middle of Ayres Road, or get the tram to Trafford Bar. Food will be served on the day too. Enjoy pizza at Seymour Grove Allotments and a BBQ at the St. John’s Centre.

Sun 2 Jul, Old Trafford Open Gardens, starting at St John’s Centre, St. John’s Road, Old Trafford, Manchester, 11am- 4pm, www.opengardens.co.uk
