The White Hotel, Manchester’s iconic club space and den of daring artistic iniquity, welcomes the return of a two-part drama founded from plasmic collective unease on Tue 8 and Wed 9 Apr.

Presented by Tales of Other Minds, A Quiet Room unfolds before the audience as war from afar, thrusting a mirror up to the viewer’s murky id in an exploration of the impulse, ethics and consequences of the bystander effect.

Four people are tasked with a job: to remain in a room and observe one another, identifying changes and reporting their findings to a faceless organisation. When a brutal, seemingly random fatality occurs, a united unravelling throws the space into disarray, before virtue rears its head from the undergrowth.

Both performances will feature a live score, an expansive set and a cadre of decorated cast members who have toured with The National Theatre and performed on-screen with the likes of Stephen Graham and Saoirse Ronan.

Writer-director Charlie Abbott says, “We can’t wait to bring A Quiet Room back to The White Hotel, to show this work to new eyes and ears in the city. The themes of the play couldn’t be more pertinent, and following on from some great feedback, we hope hat these shows spark new conversations within our audiences. “
