The Michelin inspectors have announced their latest round of additions to the coveted guide, and three new Manchester restaurants have earned a spot.

While Michelin Stars, Green Stars and Bib Gourmands are only revealed at an annual ceremony, the wider guide is updated all year-round, with inspectors adding new recommended restaurants on a monthly basis.

In this latest batch of August newcomers, Manchester’s dining scene was singled out for praise, with three fresh-faced operators now etched into the Michelin Guide.

Pip, which is housed in the recently opened Treehouse Hotel, and the new flagship project from acclaimed local chef Mary-Ellen McTague, was among the inclusions. Focused on an ‘innovative and conscientious approach to cooking’, Pip was praised in the guide for showing ‘pride in Northwestern produce’.

Speaking on the recognition, Mary-Ellen McTague, said: ‘“We’re over the moon to be included in the Michelin Guide so soon after opening! It’s an incredible honour, made possible by the dedication of our amazing team and the support of our wonderful suppliers. Working with them to showcase the very best of the North West is a daily joy.”

Also included is Winsome, which opened earlier this year with the celebrated Shaun Moffat at its kitchen’s helm. Winsome describes itself as being all about Northern hospitality, and Michelin inspectors highlighted the team’s ‘admirably gutsy’ cooking, which is crafted around fresh, British produce.

Finally, Stockport’s Cantaloupe completed the set. With a daily rotating menu, the charming wine bar and restaurant has proved an instant hit amongst the area’s flourishing food and drink scene, and Michelin lauded the simplicity and skill on display in the kitchen.
