On Tue 10 and Wed 11 Jun, acclaimed dance theatre company Thick & Tight return to Lowry with Natural Behaviour, a collection of kinetic portraits of human and animal forms described as ‘somewhere between a variety show and a biology essay’.
Equal parts outrageous, beautiful, insightful and hysterical, Thick & Tight’s latest work celebrates the integral role of diversity across all forms of life, exploring what it means to be natural – or unnatural – through a queer lens with ‘a true masterclass in dance and satire (The Stage).
Following their award-winning tour of Tits & Teeth last year alongside sell-out shows at London International Mime Festival, the innovative duo take to the Quays Theatre stage as Associate Artists with another ‘beautifully performed and life-enhancing’ (Guardian) production, showcasing their trademark blend of choreography, impersonation, poetry and whip-smart humour.
Led by a cast of renowned dance artists including Annie Edwards (Candoco), Azara Meghie (Ray Young, Talawa), Luigi Nardone (BalletBoyz, Holly Blakey), Jahmarley Bachelor (Punchdrunk), and Corali Dance Company, Natural Behaviour offers a sharply funny and wildly inventive zoological study spanning the full breadth of animal life, from post-apocalyptic cockroaches, lesbian seagulls and lamenting songbirds to human tyrants, the dust in Quentin Crisp’s room and a single blade of grass.
