An exciting and game-changing new addition to the iconic Jodrell Bank is set to be completed this summer as a three-year project nears completion.

The First Light Project, which will open to the public from Sat 4 Jun, promises to further unlock the potential of the centre, which houses the iconic Lovell Telescope, through a brand-new gallery, immersive projection space and auditorium.

At the heart of the project is the First Light Pavilion, a spectacular new building that has been constructed in the gardens of Jodrell Bank. Inside will be an exhibition that encourages visitor engagement, telling the stories of the amazing scientists and engineers who have worked at the centre over the years.

The new 130-seat auditorium will contain a projection space, where visitors can see an animated history of Jodrell Bank. It’ll also double up as a unique venue for events, lectures, shows and workshops.

Coinciding with the opening, a new heritage engagement programme will also launch with the aim of opening the doors to thousands more visitors and delivering an array of workshops and outreach sessions.
