With half term rearing it’s head once more, we’ve rounded up some alternative ideas of what to do with the littluns this week that you can enjoy too. Hopefully.

Crafty workshops: The Science Studio is back at Manchester Craft & Design Centre
The Manchester Science Festival is back in the city and with it they bring the fascinating family-friendly leg ‘The Science Studio’ at MCDC all this week. The workshops are all free and cover a different theme and material each day, with a new teacher for all. Worth grabbing some veggie treats at the Oak Cafe while you’re there.
Mon 22 Oct – Fri 26 Oct, Manchester Craft and Design Centre, 17 Oak Street, Manchester, M4 5JD. Tel: 0161 832 4274, www.craftanddesign.com

Herstory: Female lead story & art workshop at The Pankhurst
The Pankhurst are running a special story and art workshop on Thursday that’s free to join at the museum. This being the home of the Women’s Suffrage Movement there is a slant toward powerful women in the storytelling, but shouldn’t that just be the case everywhere anyway? Yes. Yes it should.
Thu 25 Oct, The Pankhurst, 60-62 Nelson Street, Manchester M13 9WP. Tel: 0161 273 5673. noon – 2pm, Free www.facebook.com

Eat: Half price pizza at Yes
With all this running around and activities they’ll no doubt work up an appetite and although the ‘Pepperoni Playboy’ that makes the pizzas might not sound the most kid friendly of eateries, the half price pizza will more than make up for it at Now Wave’s new bar YES. Whilst your there you can tell the kids tales of the brutal BBC building that used to loom of this part of town back in your day.
Mon-Fri, YES, 38 Charles Street, Manchester M1 7DB, noon – 7pm,  www.yes-manchester.com
