Tis the season… to pig out. And what better way to do it, than at the city centre’s finest eateries. We’ve picked three restaurants doing something a little different this Christmas, so if you’ve not booked your meal yet here are three ideas to get those juices flowing.

1. Hawksmoor Burger and Nuggets.
Hawksmoor is, in our opinion, Manchester’s finest steakhouse and bar. They don’t just serve food or drink at this, the first branch of the top end chain outside of London. They serve perfect creations. The perfect beer and ginger cocktail (Shaky Pete’s Ginger Brew, £9.75, accurately described on the menu as ‘a turbo-shandy’), the perfect rich red wine to go with steak (Franck Massard Humilitat Priorat, £40). And the perfect Christmas Burger (£12). This huge chap comes decked with two hunks of deep fried, breadcrumbed buttermilk turkey, a Scottish-style slab of Tamworth pork sausage meat, crispy bacon, cheese, a massive jug of turkey gravy AND a saucy cranberry and vinegar dip on the side that brings to mind sweet and sour sauce of days gone by. Be sure to get the nuggets (both £7) too. There are two to choose from: turkey and cranberry or sublime, rich, oozy slow-cooked shortrib, with a melting middle of Ogleshield cheese to look forward to.
Hawksmoor, 186-184 Deansgate, Manchester, M3 3WB, Tel: 0161 836 6980, Mon – Thu 12pm – 3pm & 5pm – 10pm, Fri & Sat 12pm – 3pm & 5pm – 10.30pm, Sun 12pm – 9.30pm, thehawksmoor.com

2. Red’s (pictured)
You can trust Red’s to step up to the mark when it comes to a Christmas. And the home of true barbecue doesn’t disappoint, with its Ultimate Festival Feast featuring mouth-watering yuletide treats such as Oak Smoked Turkey, Cheese and Jalapeño links in blankets, Pulled Pork Stuffing Balls and Festive Cornbread – plus candied yams and barbecue green beans on the side. This sharing menu is available to groups of eight or more Mondays to Fridays throughout December, priced at £22 per person. You can even pre-order Pistonhead Full Throttle pale lager (£89 per case) or wine (£99 for six bottles), to help all that tasty food go down.
Red’s True Barbecue, 22 Lloyd Street, Manchester, M2 5WA, Tel: 0161 402 0142, Christmas menu available Mon – Thu 12pm – 11pm and Fri 12pm – 1am (call to book in advance), truebarbecue.com

3. Crazy Pedro’s
Fancy a late-night treat but don’t want to miss the opportunity to keep things festive? Then turn to the ever-reliable Crazy Pedro’s, which has unveiled its limited edition Xmas pizza. Order the (Merry Christmas) Ya Filthy Animal pizza (£7.50) – a nod to Home Alone 2, naturally – and you’ll experience several of the traditional Christmas dinner favourites: roast turkey; cranberry sauce; pigs in blankets; and fresh sage. The pizza is available throughout December – and with Crazy Pedro’s open until 4am every night of the week, you can enjoy this soon-to-be festive favourite way into the small hours.
Crazy Pedro’s, 55–57 Bridge Street, Manchester, M3 3BQ, Tel: 0161 359 3000, Mon – Sat 12pm – 4am, Sun 5pm – 4am, crazypedros.co.uk
