Debut Fiction: Q&A with three new writers on University Green
On Thursday 21 March, Blackwells welcomes three debut novelists from three of the most interesting independent publishers in operation. Parthian, & Other Stories, and Melville House. Bristol Short Story Prize winner Valerie O’Riordan will be introducing and speaking to the writers SK Perry, Amy Arnold, and Glen James Brown about their diverse and uniformly excellent first books. Tickets cost just £3 and include a free glass of wine and discounts on purchases on the night.

Short Stories: Nicole Flattery & Daisy Johnson (Man Booker nominee & Blackwells Book of the Year 2018) book launches
Two of the brightest short-story writers are heading to Blackwells for a night in March to celebrate the launch of their books. Nicole Flattery has been showered with praise from writers such as Sally Rooney and Jon McGregor, and won the White Review’s Short Story Prize in 2017. Set to share the evening is ‘swaggering monster of fiction’, Daisy Johnson, who will be reading from her debut novel, Everything Under, nominated for the Man Booker Prize as well as Blackwell’s Book of the Year last year. Her debut short story collection, ‘Fen’ was one of the most critically acclaimed collections of recent years. Tickets include discounts and a glass of wine.

An Evening with Chronicles of Darkness author Michelle Paver
Michelle Paver is a rare author who has managed to forge a successful career in young adult as well as adult fiction. Now the bestselling author brings her latest adult gothic novel, Wakenhyrst, to Blackwell’s this April. Spanning five centuries, it’s a gothic tale of obsession, murder and a longing to be free. Paver will be signing novels on the night, as well as money off, and a free glass of wine for all ticket holders.
