Queer Contact festival of all things alternative and wild returns this week with some seriously stellar names in tow. Be sure to check out the website for full listings. In the meantime, here are three fabulous events to give you a taste of what it’s all about.
1. VOCAL SUPERSTAR: Fingersnap ft David McAlmont (vocals) and Guy Davies (piano)
Fingersnap is David McAlmont plus musical partner and pianist Guy Davies. The twosome will perform McAlmont and Butler hits (like YES! of course) plus Great American Songbook songs.
Thu 5 Feb, 8pm, from £10, www.contactmcr.com
2. CABARET: Shortbus star, Justin Vivian Bond (pictured) presents Love is Crazy
Expect rude, wild and beautiful songs and stories from NYC’s cabaret superstar. Justin’s playlist includes some of the finest songs of the last 50 years by artists like The Cure, The Divine Comedy, Pet Shop Boys and Patti Smith. But the real thrill is seeing this living legend in the flesh.
Sat 14 and Sun 15 Feb, 8pm. £20/15, www.contactmcr.com
3. FREE EXHIBITION: HIV Activism on paper by the George House Trust
The George House Trust charity has been campaigning to enable people living with HIV to live healthy, happy lives since 1985. Based in the North West, their activism work is explored in this long-running exhibition which takes over the foyer of the Contact theatre.
