Dulcimer remains one of the gems of Chorlton’s nightlife crown, and we’ve been checking out what’s on offer this week to lift the spirits in spite of the miserable weather. Here are five free events for your consideration, from eclectic DJ sets to bluesy acoustic gigs in their intimate upstairs venue.

Folk Songs + Tunes | Tue 11 Jun | 8pm | FREE
Sit back, relax and enjoy a selection of intimate folky offerings to help guide you through the week, or perhaps show off your own vocal prowess at the open mic.

Sam Jefferson | Wed 12 Jun | 8pm | FREE
Beat that mid-week slump with a relaxed, intimate acoustic offering from bluesy songsmith Sam Jefferson, dubbed “a consummate songwriter, an artist who brings a story to life” by BBC Radio Sheffield.

Open Mic Night + Stutter & Twitch DJs| Thur 13 Jun | 8pm | FREE
Show off your own vocal prowess at Dulcimer’s open mic night, with a free beer on offer for performers, but make sure you get down early for the best slots. Stick around later for a funkadelic evening of rare soul and groove, as record label Stutter bring down some of their best wax to bring in the weekend.

Andy Shake’n’Fingerpop | Fri 14 Jun | 9pm | FREE
Visiting Dulcimer every second Friday of the month, the Peek A Groove collective drop in with an abundance of hip hop, boogie, neo-soul and afro-beat.

Reasons To Be Cheerful DJs | Sat 15 Jun | 9pm | FREE
Getting stuck into the weekend, DJ Dunc offers another excellent post-punk pop party with a healthy dose of 80s post-punk, new wave goodness along with lashings of disco, funk and pop.
