Manchester’s annual Pride Festival returns this weekend with all the parading, discoing, art, creativity and partying you could dream of. For full listings of what’s on where, check out the official Manchester Pride guide here. Of course, the mainstream happenings are only part of the bigger picture, and there are a host of other activities to get involved with over the weekend. A few that we like the look of include the creative, free Superbia Weekend at 70 Oxford Street (Fri 25 – Sun 27 Aug, times vary, click here for more) with yoga workshops, film screenings and more, an all day post-parade party featuring DJs from Good Afternoon, Drunk at Vogue and other disco luminaries called Love Party at 53two (Sat 26 Aug, 3pm-midnight, tickets), the Queer Art Show at the tiny Penthouse NQ venue (Thu 24 – Sat 26 Aug, free, more info), plus world-class clubbing courtesy of names like Homoelectric (at Hidden) and Horse Meat Disco (at Gorilla). For more on the dance music side of things, check out our club guide here. This weekend is also the perfect time to check out an exhibition at the People’s History Museum called The Fight for LGBT Rights – read our preview here.
