This May Trafford will see five days of celebration exploring LGBTQ+ culture and identity across the region and beyond, curated by award-winning arts space Waterside Arts. Part of a collaboration between the Mayor of Trafford, Trafford Council and Waterside, Pride in Trafford takes place across the borough between Wed 15 – Sun 19 May. We’ve highlighted 5 events you can look forward to over the 5 days of celebration.

Tom Allen + Bethany Black + Annette Fagon | Fri 17 May | Robert Bolt Theatre | 8-10pm | £15
Hosted by MC Kerry Leigh, this triple-headliner hosts some of the finest alternative comedy on the scene, featuring Mock The Week and 8 Out of 10 Cats favourite Tom Allen, Cucumber, Banana and Tofu star Bethany Black and budding comic Annette Fagon.

Youngr | Sat 18 May | Robert Bolt Theatre | 8-11pm | £10
Musician, songwriter and former Trafford resident Youngr returns to his roots to headline this year’s Pride celebrations. Breaking waves last year with debut single Out Of My System, he has since racked up over 70 million global streams and played over 150 shows in 40 different countries around the world, including sold out tours across Europe and North America. Support comes from singer-songwriter Benedict Cork.

The Cocoa Butter Club | Sat 18 May | Waterside | 7:30-9pm | £10
The Colour Cabaret Collective make their first visit to Manchester and in partnership with Contact; Raze Collective present Raze Up; a professional development day for queer artists. Expect burlesque, circus, spoken word, live music, voguing, comedy and many other creative celebrations in this unique cabaret production.

Queer on Screen | Sat 18 May | Waterside | 12-2pm | £5
Creative Industries Trafford explore the representation of LGBTQ+, people of colour and queer characters throughout TV, film, theatre and radio, addressing inequalities and how we can create interesting narratives and share those stories, effecting change in the process.

Community Hub | Sat 18 May | Waterside | 11am-3pm | FREE
Waterside will also play host to a community hub, exhibiting local LGBTQ+ groups, community groups and charities. The BHA for equality in health and social care will be running rapid HIV testing and there will be community arts workshops also running during the day.
